In the Community

At Orchard Toys we feel, that although we are creating employment for local people, our responsibility, as a caring company, extends further out into the community.

Our factory and office unit is based in Wymondham, a pretty market town nestling in the Norfolk countryside, not far from the A11 with links to the north, south and west.

Over the last few years, since the company has been based in Norfolk, we have been involved in a Project with Kinsale Junior School in Norwich. Three years ago they entered Norfolk’s Food and Farming Challenge and they approached us with a view to coming to see us, to see how a board game was made, from start to finish. After several visits, first with our designers, then around the factory, then again when they were at the testing stage, they came to sound us out on the viability of their product.

As a result of our partnership with the school, last year the project won the trophy for the Best Education/Business Link at last year’s EDP (Eastern Daily Press) Awards and the school won the Norfolk Food and Farming Challenge. As there was such a popular demand for the children’s boardgame, Norfolk Fine Foods, we put it into production.  

For every sale of Norfolk Fine Foods, we are contributing a sum of money to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH). EACH supports families throughout their experience of caring for children with life-threatening conditions and complex healthcare needs. They are a registered children's charity (no.1069284) that relies upon public support. It seems fitting that a company, such as ours, that designs and manufactures children’s educational games and puzzles, should help a children’s charity. They are our chosen charity for 2010.  As you will see from the checkout when you purchase from our website, we are inviting you too, to include a donation, however small, to EACH.

Orchard Toys also sponsors, and has done for several years, the baby changing facilities at our local theatre, the Theatre Royal in Norwich.

For the last three years we have been co-sponsors of the Teddy Bears’ Picnic at the Wymondham Music Festival, and will be looking to do so again in 2010, as well as sponsoring the Under 13 Wymondham Town United football team

Apart from this, we try, as far as we can, to support many clubs, charities, children’s groups and associations with products for their fundraising events such as Christmas, Spring and Summer bazaars and fetes.
