14.10.2011 A donation to help Great Ormond Street Hospital
When, back in the summer, Nicola Bearman approached our MD, Simon Newbery for a donation towards a fundraiser she was organising for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), he was delighted to be in a position to help.
"We usually run down stock that we plan to discontinue before introducing a new line, but it just so happened that when Nicola contacted me we had a quantity of games and jigsaws that was surplus to requirements. I was only too pleased to let them go to such a worthy cause."
Says Nicola Bearman, mum to Oscar, a patient at GOSH, "We were absolutely thrilled to bits with the donation of games and puzzles for our fundraising event on 6th October. We rely upon the generosity of organisations like Orchard Toys to support our vital work; not only have they donated 500 items for our event they have also donated toys and games for each of the hospital wards. I can't thank them enough."
Celebrity mum, Tamara Beckwith said, "Great Ormond Street Hospital works miracles for children from all over the world and one of those miracles was performed for my nephew, Oscar. This event really brings home how important it is to raise as much money as possible for this special hospital. We need to keep remembering it's a never-ending mission. Great Ormond Street can never have enough money."
From 9am - 2pm, over 150 children were let loose and had lots of fun on the giant play-frames, climbing walls and dodgems. The partygoers were also treated to theatre shows and activity classes, tasty party food and drinks, and got the chance to meet their favourite entertainment characters.
About Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity and the Theatres for Theatres Appeal:
All the money raised from the Nicola’s Children's Party will go towards a major three year initiative to help treat children with complex neurological and craniofacial conditions. The Appeal brings together the worlds of performing arts and paediatric medicine, and aims to raise £4 million towards the construction of two brand new state-of-the-art operating theatres at Great Ormond Street Hospital to be used for children who require specialist neurosurgery.
