Little Puzzle Range Scoops a Gold Award!

22.11.2010 Little Puzzle Range Scoops a Gold Award!

The four double-sided jigsaw puzzles in the Little Puzzles range, Little Diplodocus; Little Bus; Little Tractor and Little Triceratops have won a Gold Award in the 2010 Top Toys Awards.

This is the first year for the Top Toys Awards which were founded in the wake of the long-running National Association of Toys and Leisure Libraries (NATLL) Awards, when they were discontinued last year.

Simon Newbery, Managing Director at Orchard Toys says, "We are happy that we were in a position to be able to support Top Toys in their new venture and thrilled that our new Little Puzzle range has been recognised with this Gold Award.

The testers commented:

An excellent range of puzzles for young children.  Well packaged in boxes suitable to store the toys.  The packaging features pictures and information about the products, it is brightly coloured and attractive.

Suitable for children of three years plus, although some extra support was required for some of the children aged three, older children were capable of playing without intervention.

The children played with the puzzles individually and as part of a group activity, they enjoyed supporting each other to complete the puzzle.

Excellent value for money, good play value, made from good quality materials.

The puzzles were felt to be very safe one tester commented on the large curved pieces with no sharp edges.

Lots of skills were practiced:-creative, fine motor skills, speaking, listening, hand and eye coordination, problem solving and concentration.

This product could be used by any child including children with additional needs.  Their chunky design makes them easy to handle.

The puzzles were tested by children attending play group and by individual children at home.

The puzzles were played with immediately and the play was sustained.  The puzzles did what they were supposed to do and withstood reasonable wear and tear.

Lily aged five years, “lots of fun”

Tom aged four years managed to complete this puzzle with no help he sang “the wheels on the bus” as he completed it.

Molly aged 2 ½ years “good”

The double-sided pieces made it interesting to complete.  Having the puzzle picture printed of both sides made it easier to complete.

One parent commented “the puzzle was ideal for my twins aged three years.  They liked the brightly coloured dinosaurs and could attempt to complete with little help from myself”.

Plus points:

  • Brightly coloured
  • Sturdy
  • Good age range

Minus points:

  • Double-sided can be distracting  (one parent’s opinion)

Conclusion – well played with by our testers.  Every tester thought that they would buy these puzzles.
