13.03.2012 Two new recruits in the design department
Jason, lead designer, is a happy man now, as his team has been increased by another two illustrators!
With nearly 100 people applying for the vacant post with the company, it was a long haul sifting through them and hard choices had to be made.
April Nash, a BA Hons graduate from De Montfort University, Leics, was thrilled to be selected. On hearing of her appointment she commented, “It was difficult to contain my excitement when I was offered the position at Orchard Toys - I couldn’t wait to start and I am so happy I haven't stopped smiling since I found out!”
But instead of one illustrator, Orchard Toys recruited two! Halfway through the recruitment process they learned that Heather Yates, their longest serving illustrator/designer was expecting her first baby. So a 12 month contract was offered, and accepted, by Rowena Cooper, another BA Hons graduate, this time from Norwich School of Art and Design, who said, “When I found out that I'd been offered the job at Orchard Toys I was over the moon! I feel really privileged to be joining such a wonderful company, and cannot wait to get started in my new role!"
April, who started on Monday 12th March, will be joined by Rowena who joins the company on Wednesday 14th March.
Simon Newbery, Managing Director, summed up by saying, “We didn’t know whether to advertise nationally, or not, but in the end, decided to advertise solely in the local paper, the Eastern Daily Press. We were bowled over by the number of excellent applications that we received from people in the region. It really was a difficult task to select those with the right skills whom we felt would fit into our team seamlessly.
“We are confident that April and Rowena are those people, and we look forward to working with them into the future.”
