Tummy Ache Game

Tummy Ache Game

A fun food lotto game that has been a family favourite for over 35 years!

Tummy Ache has been a family favourite for over 35 years! Players must try to put together an edible meal in their place setting, but beware of making yucky combinations that will cause a tummy ache! Players pick up food and drink cards from the central pile and place them on the different sections of their plate. If they pick up one of the yucky 'tummy ache' cards, they must shout out 'Tummy ache!' and place it on their board to be replaced later in the game

The winner is the first player to fill their playing board with five food cards to make an edible meal.

Children find this game quick and easy to play and understand, and will be screeching with laughter at the horrible bugs, slugs and worms they can see amongst their everyday foods! It is also a great way to teach children about turn taking and encouraging communication by asking them to talk about their favourite food. Tummy Ache is perfect to play in school with friends, or at home with family.

We loved this game all summer

Reviewed by Alice Draper on 03 September 2016

I have a nearly 3 year old and 5 1/2 year old.

We took this game away on holiday this summer to do on rainy days. Played it loads, the 3 year old was fascinated by making a meal of all the yuckiest cards! Really great fun, very easy to play. Definitely a 'younger' child game, I think in a year or so my older one will not find it complex enough but a great game to play with everyone including grandparents. Generally love Orchard Toys and this is another firm family favourite.

So much fun!

My Children totally love this game! We play two ways, trying to collect the tasty plate and also who can collect the nastiest plate. They will play it again and again and love to express their horror at some of the tummy ache cards - blurgh!

A fun game for all the family

Reviewed by Beth on 21 May 2014

Tummy Ache is a wonderful game which is fun for all members of the family of any age. The quality of the placemats and food cards is very good as they are thick and laminated. The images on them are bright and very child-friendly, even the text is easy to read. The pictures on the Tummy Ache food cards contain easily recognisable 'bad to eat' things such as spiders, worms and flies.

My son couldn't wait to play Tummy Ache when it arrived and he was more than happy to listen to me explaining what we had to do. We played the game a number of times (although we didn't always follow the rules exactly) and he laughed and shouted 'Tummy Ache' whenever I picked up a Tummy Ache card.

First going off, he did find it a little difficult to grasp the rules but he enjoyed playing regardless of this. He did enjoy choosing foods he likes in real life.

Lovely game for younger children

Reviewed by Jo Middleton on 21 May 2014

We're a massive fan of Orchard Toys, and I was really looking forward to playing this with my eight year old. We did enjoy it, but I would probably say it would be more suited to slightly younger children, as it didn't have the challenging element my daughter needs. That said, it was very easy to adapt, and we ended up turning it into a memory game!

Tummy Ache

Reviewed by Sarah on 21 May 2014

I remember many happy hours playing Tummy Ache with my own children, so I was delighted to see that it is still available! It's a hilarious game in which the players try to put together an edible meal - without getting any of the cards which mean the player gets a tummy ache.

It's easy to play and the instructions are easy to follow, even for quite young children - it is recommended for children 3 - 10, and 2 to 4 players, but I think perhaps the younger age range will enjoy it more. Having said that though, it's a great family game. As with all Orchard Toys' products, the cards are strong and designed to withstand lots of use.

Great family game!

Reviewed by Laura Campbell on 21 May 2014

Tummy ache is one of our favourite games. It's easy for any child to play. You each take a place setting mat and you have to fill spaces with a dessert, drink, and your main meal. You need to watch out for the yucky foods that are covered in horrid bugs and creepy crawlies or you'll have to shout Tummy Ache!
