Shopping List Game

Shopping List Game

This shopping-themed matching and memory game is our number one bestseller!

Shopping List lotto game uses quick and simple gameplay which holds children's attention! Players take it in turns to turn over cards showing everyday items, from tomatoes to washing powder to pizza. If they match the pictures on their shopping list, they are encouraged to say the item out loud and add it to their trolley. Older children can play more strategically by remembering where the cards from their list have been placed. The winner is the first player to collect all the items on their list and fill their trolley or basket!

This matching and memory game features different types of quirky shopping lists, including paper ones and a tablet which children will enjoy. A great way to extend learning is to ask children to recognise the different grocery items from their list and read them aloud, both while playing the game and on a trip to the supermarket! Although the game is for 2 - 4 players, gameplay can also be extended to 6 or 8 players by adding either the 'Clothes' or 'Fruit and Veg' Extras packs for additional items and lists!

Not suitable for children under 3 years due to small parts. Choking hazard.

This was our first orchard game. We got this when our daughter was 2 and a half and she wanted to play it everyday for months.

It’s a good structured memory game and gets the children used to sitting and playing a game. Once they’ve mastered the concept of this game you can easily move onto other orchard toy tile and memory games like old Mac Donald’s farm.

My Daughter Loves It

My daughter is 7, has autism and Non Verbal. We love games that encourage her to use her words. Shopping List is great for this, its a very visual game and we can encourage her to tell us the name of the items in her basket. My other children love the game too.

My son is 2 and not a talker so I was advised to get this game. Although we don't play it in the traditional way he adores it and we have noticed improvements in his speech since we started playing it. He has to fill his trolley with items on his shopping list and say them as he puts them in!!

Fun but educational

Reviewed by Jane Arschavir on 24 October 2015

The shopping list game is such a favourite, really well made, carefully thought out, a great matching game which is small enough to be portable so you can shove it in your bag and play while you're eating out etc. They played this at school which is why I decided to buy it, but it's lots of fun and a great way to learn as well as start conversations about shopping and food etc. Great stuff from Orchard Toys!

A great first game

Reviewed by Mummy of Two + 1 on 08 October 2015

Although the game is aimed at children aged 3-7, we have always found that our children have been able to play much younger than this.

We have found Shopping List to be a really good first game. The rules are simple to understand and it has helped our children with learning about turn taking and improved their memory skills. Our son, at 7, still enjoys playing this game.

As with all of the Orchard Toys games, the quality of the playing pieces is excellent and it is fantastic value for money. We would highly recommend Shopping List to everyone!

We absolutely love this game. My son is 22 months old and still manages to understand most of the concept and thoroughly enjoys it. I know that it will just get better and better as he gets older too.

Updated and Just as Fun

The Shopping List game has been updated with new shopping items, the choice between a trolley or a shopping basket and new style shopping lists (including an iPhone looking one!). We enjoyed the original version with our now 9yr old the this update version is equally fun and educationally focused for our youngest child. This would also make a great gift.

Great family game

Reviewed by Eileen Teo on 24 September 2015

The cards are made from thick recycled cardboard, are easy to hold, have smooth edges and are bright and colourful. The shopping lists are easy to read and comes with pictures on the side to help younger children.

This is a fun memory game which also encourages observation. Ms C and I both failed miserably as we didnÕt observe carefully enough. It has been a while since we played a memory game! It was great fun with so many laughs!

This game retails at £7.50 which we think is excellent value for money as it helps to develop personal and social skills. I give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. It is a great family game! I can see my children playing this regularly. It also comes in a small box which makes it easy to bring out to play. Or they could even learn the spellings on the shopping list!

A classic game that children love

Reviewed by over40andamumtoone on 22 September 2015

We've been a big fan of this game for over 3 years as it's helped encourage my son with a speech delay issue and is now one of our favourite games to play. Working on memory and observation skills it's a classic game. We've just been trying out the updated version and my son loves the addition of shopping baskets as well as trolleys. Great idea.

Fabulous for Gifts

Reviewed by Sam Wyld on 21 May 2014

Someone bought this for my son on his third birthday and it's turned into one of the most played-with things he owns. Before he understood about playing games, he used to make his own rules and he learned what all the items were called. We now play it properly and he still loves it (just turned four)... and the added bonus is, he loves to help put the REAL food shopping away!

Fantastic Game

Reviewed by Jennifer Jain on 21 May 2014

I was really pleased with this game, and my 3 year old son loved it. It has a simple premise - each player (of up to four players) has a shopping list with eight different items. Each of these 32 items is represented on a smaller card. The small cards are turned face down in the middle, and players take it in turns to turn over a card. If it is on their shopping list they add it to their trolley, if not they turn it back over and play passes to the next person.

The game involves matching the items to the shopping list, and also memory skills, as you can remember where other items from your list are if other players have previously turned them over. My son picked up the rules very quickly and was quite happy to play the game properly. He was absolutely delighted when he matched something from his list.

What I particularly liked about this game was how my son developed it. When he had filled up his trolley he drove it over to me so that I could 'scan' the items. Then he loaded them onto his truck, took them 'home', then he 'ate' them for lunch. I could see that he could amuse himself with the game even by himself, and there are lots of other games that you could play with the pieces. You could make up a number of variations on matching and memory games. It could be played as a single player game, or else two people could play with two shopping lists each. It also works really well for players of different ages and abilities.

Great game

Reviewed by Mary Proctor on 21 May 2014

I bought this game and the booster packs at the beginning of the year for my little boy, then aged just over 2. My son was a very slow talker and I used this game to help progress his talking, we made up our own game rules at the time (due to his age) and he absolutely loves this game.

We sometimes take the 'lists' shopping with us and my son uses them to find items in the supermarket and it keeps the trips 'fun'.

He's nearly 3 now and we play more by the rules now. He never gets bored of this game - can't recommend it enough!
