Orchard Toys Celebrates 50 Years!
From everything you tell us, we know Orchard Toys is a favourite with your children. Maybe some of you played and enjoyed our games yourself as a child? But did you know we’ve been making our best-selling games and puzzles for 50 years – we almost can’t believe it ourselves!
We started creating blocks and tracing sets around the kitchen table for a local nursery school, and now we’re the UK’s No.1 manufacturer of preschool games, it’s just incredible. It’s all thanks to you, buying our games, playing them, loving them and coming back for more. From all of us at Orchard Toys to all of you, and your children, a BIG THANK YOU
Everyone has their own special favourite, perhaps it's our bestselling Shopping List or Smelly Wellies, Post Box Game or Rainbow Unicorns!!
It’s so hard to choose, but we’ll let you into a secret, some of our favourites are Shopping List (of course), The Game of Ladybirds (our oldest game),Crazy Chefs and Giraffes in Scarves.
Whatever the game, the puzzle or colouring book, and whether it’s for a little one of 18mths, a pre-schooler, a 5yr old or an 8 yr old, we’ve designed them all to help your child’s development.
‘Learning Made Fun’ is at the heart of everything we do, and we work really hard to strike the perfect balance between education and fun. Whether your child is learning to recognise colours and shapes, turn taking, practising spellings, or numeracy, the chances are they’ll be having so much fun they won’t even realise they’re learning something new.
As many of you know, we work really closely with educational advisors, teachers - and children - when designing our games and jigsaws, to ensure each one is age appropriate, educationally sound and, most importantly, fun. Only when the game meets these criteria do we think it’s worthy of our Orchard Toys “Teacher Tested” stamp of approval. We think that’s probably one of the many reasons our games are loved by teachers, parents and children!
This last 18 months, we’ve really enjoyed being able to help you during lockdown with our literacy and numeracy games and free daily downloadable worksheets – we know how tough it was becoming the school of mum and dad overnight and helping your child’s home learning whilst schools were closed (most of us at Orchard Toys are parents too!)
We’re looking forward to the next 50 years, but before that we’re excited for the countdown to Christmas.
