Inside the box are 12 animal shapes made from a stiff cardboard. The shapes are all double sided and have a shape that can be removed from the middle. The shapes are all quite large and I think the perfect size. Erin is nearly 2 but these would be great for children aged 18 months as there are no little pieces and even the cut out shapes are large in size.
What I love about Orchard Toys is that they give multiple ways of playing with the game on the back of the box. With the animal shapes you could match the shapes, identify the colours, name the animals and also make animal noises! I think this really helps make a toy like this last because you don’t have to play with it the same way two times in a row!
Orchard Toys Animal Shapes is a really lovely game for children of my daughter's age. We’ve had loads of fun with it so far and it’s a great learning tool as well as a toy!

Colourful, fun and simple, Animal Shapes is very popular in our household. Our two year old loves to piece together the friendly characters, whilst telling us the colours, names of shapes and names of the animals. A great activity for little ones to do independently. Well made as always, with high quality artwork.

I got this game for my 2 year old twin girls. Since the day they got it, it is the first toy they go to every morning. Before now, we hadn’t found anything they could play that was age appropriate but this is the perfect toy for their age. The bright colours and animals are so inviting for children. The 12 large animals and shapes are easy to handle and the shapes pop into place easily. It is great for discussions and to extend their vocabulary about animals, shapes and colours so children can be extended as they get older.

It can be hard to find stimulating toys for 1 to 2 year old children, but Orchard Toys has done well with this one. This is a simple first colour and shape matching activity which introduces children to a range of colourful animals. It is designed for children aged 18 months and over. It's simple and intuitive - just slot the correctly matched shape into the space to complete the animals; the bright colours and appealing animals will really attract young children. Each of the 12 colourful animals has a press-out shape in the centre to be matched up - these are all different. There are all sorts of ways in which the pieces can be used to develop matching skills, improve hand eye coordination, manual dexterity and encourage discussion - no doubt every parent (and child) will have their own ideas. Examples would include memory games, identifying shapes when turned over, and grouping pieces by colour. The thick chunky cards are durable as well as being easy to grasp for little fingers.
